Supporters of Obama hatch plan for change

ATLANTIC CITY - Supporters of President-elect Barack Obama met Saturday in the back of a Chinese restaurant to talk about how they can harness political momentum from the Nov. 4 election.

For these supporters, the election was just the start of their civic duty.

"They're thinking, 'OK, we got him elected. It's up to him to take care of things,'" said Juanita Pryce, leader of the Atlantic City Residents' Democratic Coalition. "But we have to change that mind-set. Obama planted the seed."

The two-dozen Atlantic County residents who met at Goodies Chinese Restaurant were not starry-eyed adolescents but longtime voters who have seen the best and worst of local and state politics. More

Politicians raised, spent plenty despite economy

Money is tight, people can't meet mortgages or car payments, and a trip to the supermarket is considered a luxury by some folks.
