Oops! Atlantic City Housing Authority sends 60 bogus eviction notices
By MICHAEL CLARK, Staff Writer, 609-272-7204
Published: Jan 05, 2009

3:21 p.m. Update - ATLANTIC CITY - A group of residents from the Stanley Holmes Village housing project packed into a cramped management office to get answers Monday after eviction notices went out to dozens who had already paid their rent.

Officials with the Atlantic City Housing Authority confirmed Monday that about 60 residents of the complex in the city's Westside section were given eviction notices Saturday, when only nine were behind on their monthly payments.

The mix-up prompted many residents to pounce on management officials at their office at the corner of Kentucky and Adriatic avenues when it opened at 9 a.m. today.

"I thought April Fools Day came in April," one resident said as she entered the office. "They must be playing a joke on us." More
