The most wonderful waves of the year: Locals make tradition of surfing on Christmas

The traditions associated with Dec. 25 are endless.
Whether they are visits, meals, gifts or some other pastime, people love the things that remain constant through the holidays, year after year.
For area waveriders, surfing on Christmas is as time-honored as egg nog.
Serious surfers know that it's not over when the temperature drops. Since the 1960s, wetsuits have allowed New Jersey surfers to pursue their passion year round. And Dec. 25 has become another day of waves.
